Problem Note 36604: The LIBNAME statement's SQLGENERATION= option is not supported for SAS® In-Database procedures

DetailsAboutRate It

Adding the SQLGENERATION= option for the LIBNAME statement provides SAS procedures with a consistent way of determining if in-database processing is supported. Without this option, the LIBNAME statement locks you into one specific value of SQLGENERATION, without a way to change that value. This behavior causes a problem for in-database processing.

The default value for the global SQLGENERATION= option is NONE, but the default value is SQLGENERATION=DBMS in the LIBNAME statement. If you use a Teradata server or a version of Teradata that is not supported by in-database processing, the following issues occur:

  • Setting SQLGENERATION=DBMS causes the engine to return a value of NONE.
  • Setting SQLGENERATION=DBMUST causes the following error message to occur:
  • ERROR: In-db is not supported on this platform and version of Teradata.

There is no workaround or solution for this problem. However, the problem has been fixed in the second maintenance release of SAS 9.1 (TS2M2).
